Being for Immigration
In school our Social Studies teacher, Mr.Morales has assigned a new project for us. We were put in groups of three and four, we're having a debate against other groups. My groups topic is: Are you for or against immigration in the U.S. I'm for immigration. I have a pretty good reason why they should allow illegal aliens into the United States.
While reading a blog by Stephen D. Gutierrez (Mexican) on the minnesota review.com, titled White Pigs, I was shocked at how right he was. I mean its true most of the "hard working jobs" The caucasians or ''gringos'' as he calls them, are being given to the illegal mexicans that come to our country. Caucasians are becoming lazy and i think its unfair for them to make millions and billions of dollars while they sit as huge boses and watch the mexicans do all the hard work. They get paid minimum wage and i dont think thats what they deserve. I though the U.S. was the land of equality and opportunity. The Mexicans that come into our country come for that "To live the American dream." Mexicans are paid less than caucasians.
Not only do we need them for regular day jobs but now the U.S. is falling short on Army recruits, our government is insisting that we make a dramatic change to recruit as many illegal aliens as possible. The government is making a bill called the stalled immigration bill. I think that the same way illegals fought to get into this country, it would be the brightest idea to let them fight in the war of Iraq. They fought to get in and they'll die to protect us.
And for all those people who said illegals aren't the smartest or that their just idiots here's what will shut you up. In 2005, immigrant-founded companies produced $52 billion in revenue and employed 450,000 nationwide. Almost 80% of immigrant-founded companies were in two industries: software and innovation/manufacturing services. In Florida, Hispanics led the pack among immigrant groups that founded companies. In Massachusetts, Israelis led.
So in conclusion i learned that we really need immigrants and they really need us. No one is illegal to me if they are willing to work, fight, and even argue for what's right and what they believe, and to achieve their ''American dream.''
I hope that when we get our new president they make a bill or an amendment stating that immigrants who come for work can stay.
